OLIVE HILL…
Nestled on ten peaceful acres in the Carneros region of Sonoma, Olive Hill offers a setting that naturally invites you to slow down. Surrounded by olive groves, vineyard views, and rolling hills, it is a place where beauty, simplicity, and thoughtful design come together to create space for both reflection and enjoyment.
THE SETTING

Whether enjoying a quiet morning on the terrace, gathering for conversation beneath the olive trees, or ending the day with a glass of local wine as the sun sets over the vineyards, the landscape becomes an integral part of the retreat experience. It is a setting that encourages presence, connection, and the simple pleasure of being exactly where you are.

THE SPACES

Our retreat is centered at Olive Hill, where beautifully designed gathering spaces create an intimate setting for workshops, shared meals, movement, and conversation. The property includes three thoughtfully appointed guest suites surrounding the pool, while additional guests will stay just across the road at the Coplan Estate Villa, a stunning vineyard home offering spacious accommodations, beautiful indoor and outdoor living areas, and sweeping views of the surrounding vines.

While we spend our days together at Olive Hill or exploring the beauty of Sonoma, guests retreat each evening to one of two beautiful homes. This thoughtful arrangement offers both time together and space to relax, reflect, and unwind.
YOUR JOURNEY

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE — SETTING THE INTENTION
Before the retreat, we’ll meet individually to connect and explore what you hope to take from our time together. You’ll also complete the VIA Character Strengths Survey, which we’ll draw on throughout the retreat as we explore the strengths and inner resources that can support you in living forward.
DAY ONE — ARRIVE & CONNECT
Settle into Olive Hill or the nearby Vineyard Villa before gathering for welcome drinks and dinner. We’ll spend the evening getting to know one another and setting the foundation for our time together.
DAY TWO — LIVING ALONGSIDE GRIEF
Begin the day with movement and meditation followed by our first workshop, where we’ll explore some of the challenges that accompany grief and practical tools from positive psychology that can support wellbeing. After lunch, we’ll head into Sonoma for Learning to Notice, using art and slow viewing as a way to practice paying attention in a different way. We’ll have time to explore town before dinner together in Sonoma.

DAY THREE — EXPANDING LIFE
Morning movement is followed by our second workshop, continuing our exploration of living alongside grief and the people, practices, and sources of meaning that help support us. After lunch, we’ll head out to experience some of Sonoma’s natural beauty before returning to Olive Hill for aperitifs, dinner, and an evening together.
DAY FOUR — REFLECT & RETURN
Our final morning begins with movement followed by our closing workshop. We’ll reflect on what we’ve explored over the weekend and consider practical ways to bring greater meaning, connection, self-compassion, and hope into everyday life. We’ll share a final lunch together before heading home.
WHO THIS RETREAT IS FOR
This retreat is designed for mothers who have experienced the death of a child and are interested in exploring how to carry their loss while continuing to engage in the life ahead. Living Forward retreats combine lived experience, applied positive psychology, movement, reflection, and connection with others who understand profound loss. They are not therapy or a substitute for professional mental health care. Because our retreats are intentionally small and personal, I speak with each participant before registration to make sure the experience feels like the right fit—for you and for the group.
